"You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you ill be acing as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.”  Matthew 5:43-45 (NLT)

My goal in life is to look more like a child of God every day and to show others what Jesus looks like every day. And when I see in the Bible and more specifically in Jesus’s own words, “…in that way you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven” I immediately key in on what the action is that will make me look more like a child of the True King.

What does it mean to love? If you asked ten people this question you would most likely get ten different answers. It seems to me that from the verses for today, to...

“‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Acts 2:17 NIV

If Jesus led a youth group, what do we become after we leave our youth group? If you follow the scriptures, Pentecost happens after Jesus public ministry and His death, burial, and resurrection. Then His ascension brought the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. In John chapter 14 Jesus says that we will do greater works than He did.

Jesus disciples grew up and became bold in their faith, wanting more of God. Do you daily want more of God? He is making you fearless in your faith and is leading you to do great things. We can make plans that we believe will give us meaning in this life, but God has the most significant plan for our lives, and in Him, we have meaning and purpose. Dre...

"And you shall eat and be full, and you shall bless the Lord your God for the good land he has given you. Take care lest you forget the Lord your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes... when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery..." Deuteronomy 8:11-14 (ESV)

When life is good, and we are feeling full because of some great accomplishment or situation in life, we all have lived long enough to know; it is only temporary. The gift under the tree we thought would make us happy and complete is forgotten just months or even weeks after Christmas. The championship trophy on our shelf, the part we got in the play, or the boyfriend who's h...

“For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100:5 NIV

I need a reminder sometimes of Gods love and how faithful He is. God is good, and all the time God is good. It’s crazy to think that God is loving and kind in every moment of every day, and He has always been and always will be. God has no beginning and no end; He has always been in existence.

There is no place that God isn’t, and there has never been a time that He wasn’t present. That is hope for us today. No time nor space can separate us from the love of God. There are times where we don’t want to hear from anyone or feel like nothing could help our situation. So today in your silent pain or the stillness of your frustration remember God is ALWAYS good, loving, and faithful. He always has and always will be.

There is hope for today. Beli...

"And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are this day." Deuteronomy 6:24 (ESV)

When you look at the 10 Commandments, which one of them seems like a bad idea? Which one of these, if you really think about them, would make our society worse if everyone followed them?

Let's look at each commandment briefly and see which would harm or hurt us and harm or hurt others if followed?

1. Have no other God's instead of Me. He didn't say don't love anyone else; He said don't worship (devote yourself to...) anyone else or anything else. This is because we were made to be fully alive only in a relationship with God as our first love.

2. Do not make an idol. This means don't try and create a God (who or what you live for) out of created things. All things created, including people...

"This was Stephen’s reply: “Brothers and fathers, listen to me. Our glorious God appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia before he settled in Haran. God told him, ‘Leave your native land and your relatives, and come into the land that I will show you.’[b] 4 So Abraham left the land of the Chaldeans and lived in Haran until his father died. Then God brought him here to the land where you now live."  Acts 7:2-4 (NLT)

If you follow Jesus for any length of time, you already know that He will challenge us to lay down and leave things and relationships that are getting in the way of serving Him. Jesus asks us to do this, not because He takes delight in taking things away from us; He does this because He knows Joy, wholeness, peace, and purpose are found only in Him! Because He loves us completely, like any good parent, He calls us to follow Hi...

"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." - 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)

In the Old Covenant, when Moses entered the Lord’s presence, he removed his veil. In the New Covenant it is the Spirit who removes the veil. The Holy Spirit is the personal “Agent” of Christ. Paul’s words make it clear that the Lord is the Spirit. A result of the New Covenant is freedom. This freedom is possible because Christ has redeemed us from the penalty of the Law and now, those that believe in Him, become children of God.

Because Jesus has made the WAY,  when we surrender our lives and believe, we are given His Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit that was given to the first Church in Acts. We have the same power living in us that we read about in the Bible. I’m telling you, the Spirit of the living God lives in you! We need to be people that be...

"But the disciples had forgotten to bring any food. They had only one loaf of bread with them in the boat. As they were crossing the lake, Jesus warned them, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod.”

The Pharisees were the pastors of Jesus' day. And like any other profession or calling there were "good" ones and "bad" ones. Many of the Pharisees that Jesus ran into were in it for all the wrong reasons. You see, also in Jesus' day, spiritual leaders were highly respected and financially secure. As Jesus said about them in Matthew 6:5, "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites (Pharisees), for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others." (NIV).

Pharisees were supposed to be spiritual leaders who ministered to others from a personal relationship with God. Instead, they ministered to...

In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. 2:17 (NIV)

You who are young cast your visions and dream big dreams. Let God be the fuel of your fire. We are the people that God has poured His Spirit out on and in. If we have given our lives to Jesus, His Spirit is alive in us.

Young men and women, cast your visions and dream dreams, you are a child of God and living under His provision. Today don’t give up on hope because God is always with you. Father, don’t let our faith fall asleep. Wake us up with your war cry and make your living water begin to dance within us. We are your giants in this land that has so little faith. Today, we are giving hope a chance because your Spirit is what leads us.

God, we are ready to receive your awe and...

“You see, we don’t go around preaching about ourselves. We preach that Jesus Christ is Lord, and we ourselves are your servants for Jesus’ sake. ...We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.” 2 Corinthians 4:5-7 (NLT)

Do you feel like an ordinary, and average individual? Have you ever said about yourself, "No one would ever recognize me as special?" God loves to invite the ordinary and the unassuming into His plan. Let's just look at the list of people He chose and called to join Him on His Mission to reunite a lost world back to Himself:

Abraham - A heathen and idol worshiper from the land of Ur.

Moses - A murderer who was on the ran from Pharoah.

Gideon - A wimp who God called, "Mighty man of valor."

Samuel - Wa...

We believe the only life worth living is the “uncommon” life that results from having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  We encourage our youth to experience this life through a daily time with Jesus,  worship, ministry, and prayer.
