“O Sovereign Lord! You made the heavens and earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! You show unfailing love to thousands, but you also bring the consequences of one generation’s sin upon the next. You are the great and powerful God, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Jeremiah 32:17-18

Life is hard, and people are cruel, and by the way, we are "people." If you look at the world without a faithful and loving God who stands by your side, things can appear downright scary. If there is no God, then all you have to depend on is you and all your limitations and weaknesses. And if you look to others, they too have limitations and weaknesses.

Who can you really depend on? Is there anyone one you know who can overcome all the trouble and challenges this world can throw at a them? Of course not, but there is ONE - "O Sovereign Lord! Y...

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 (NIV)

Freedom is an interesting thing. The opposite of freedom is imprisonment or enslavement. I remember lots of times in high school where I felt like I had no freedom. Everyone else was allowed to stay out later or were able to drive before I had my license. It always seemed like my friends and peers were having more fun than me. Have you ever felt like you were missing out on all the fun?

You aren't missing out on real life. Real freedom is in Christ alone. Living for eternity isn't glamorous, but it is purposeful and fulfilling. Wanting more of this world leaves us wanting more and momentarily satisfied at best. Freedom in Christ is forever and forever is a long time. We could chase after this world and be filled with regret and disappointment or be free, free indeed.

Prayer

Lord, lead me in the...

“O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.”
‭‭
Psalms‬ ‭63:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

You may not know this, but we live in a world where there is no water. You may reply, "But our world is covered in water." Yes, that is true, but not the water that brings life - eternal life. We are souls with a body and our souls thirst and hunger for our spiritual Father.

We often mistake specific hungers and thirsts (desires) as physical when they are spiritual. The desire for approval, companionship, love, and purpose are all spiritual desires. When we try and satisfy those desires with things like wrong relationships, temporary accomplishments, physical intimacy outside of marriage and a party lifestyle, we become spiritually dehydrated.

There are countless stories of people who h...

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (ESV)

Have you ever prayed for less pain, less stress, less trouble, and less drama? God could you please make it stop. One thing I am learning is that God’s heart breaks because of His children’s pain. His love is unconditional, and His love is not bound to circumstances. He is always pursuing us.

Today we could ask for less struggle or more of God. I’m choosing to believe that God’s love for you is more significant than your hardships. Instead of suffering through circumstance let’s embrace the love of Christ. There will always be struggles in life, but the love of...

"And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. 1 John 5:11-13 (NLT)

Anyone who has come to believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior has struggled, at some point, with whether or not they were really saved. For some, this can be a fleeting thought, and for others, it can cause anxiety and sleepless nights. Jesus doesn’t want His children to live in doubt and fear about their salvation. He wants His children to KNOW that they are His, and to walk in the confidence and peace that possessing that knowledge produces.

In my early twenties, I would struggle, from time to time with if I was saved or not. I struggled because many times my thoughts and actions were still the same from before I gave my life to Jesus. When this would happen I...

"When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.” James‬ ‭4:3‬ ‭(NLT)

"Ask and you will receive," is what you were always told. That’s is not a lie, but God has had a plan for your life from before the beginning of time. He knows what you want to ask before you even think about it.

Growing up in the world isn’t easy, there is struggle you will encounter and you will overcome. You just have to remember it’s not on your own, God is with you every step of the way. Pray, ask God your questions, but when you ask, don’t look at it as what you will get in return.

When you ask, ask with open hands. Allow God to give you what you need for today. When he gives it to you take it with open hands and don’t keep it, and only use it when you need it. Keeping open hands allows God to give and take what...

And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14 (ESV)

I traveled to isolation, and you were there.

I needed comfort, and I found you in those serving you.

I wanted pleasure, and I sinned against you, but you were still there.

I cussed, screamed, cried, and embarrassed myself and God, and you were still there.

I ventured from place to place and person to person looking for peace, and all I had to do was turn to you.

Lockers are slamming, your friends are laughing, others are stirring trouble, and you smile, but you feel alone. You are an expert at hiding pain, but something has to change. The thought of another day makes you want to give up even more.

Hear the words of the Lord. He will never leave you nor forsake you. He is always with you. Ask Him to make himself real to you and watch how He shows up in your life. Look for...

"Do not be misled: 'Bad company corrupts good character.' Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God - I say this to your shame." 1 Corinthians 15:33-34 (NIV)

Don't be fooled! Hanging out with people who don't care about themselves (bad company) will never work positively for you. Individuals who don't care about themselves live for the moment with no regard concerning the outcomes of their choices. The previous verse, talking about people who have no regard for the eternal, states the following as their motto, "Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." Notice there is no concern for others - "us" and "we." All they can think about is themselves and the fleeting pleasures they are living for. The truth is people who don't care about THEMselves will not care about YOURself. They are bad company, and if...

"Slow down. Take a deep breath. What's the hurry? Why wear yourself out? Just what are you after anyway? But you say, 'I can't help it. I'm addicted to alien gods. I can't quit.' Jeremiah 2:25 (MSG)

Slow down! Take a breath. You don’t have to have all the answer to every question. I mean it is helpful to know every answer on a test in class, but some answers just come with time. If you are a senior, you don’t have to have everything figured out it’s okay. That doesn’t mean we don’t make plans and have goals, but we should always be open to Gods plan. Sometimes I think we make plans for our lives without ever talking to God.

Slow down! Life goes fast without us hurrying it. You may know what you desire in a husband or wife, and God values your opinion. Know this; God has made someone perfect for you. You may not want kids, and God may bless you with four. I am...

I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more." John 15:1-3 (NLT)

Spiritual pruning can be a painful process, but it is something we all as Christians will go through during different times in our lives. It’s when God strips away the “stuff” that weighs us down, keeping us from being able to do the things He is asking us to do and going the places He is asking us to go. Although it can be painful, and we don’t look forward to that season of life, God promises us the He will only do things that are only for our good and to never leave our side through it all.

This week, I want to encourage you to be vulnerable before God and ask him what it is in your life that needs to be cut out or pruned. Once he reveals...
