Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses. - NIV Proverbs 27:5-6
We all have imperfections and we are quick to point out other people’s faults. I think it’s safe to say some people our real and some our fake. Sadly we enjoy the complements from fake friends and can’t handle the truth from our real friends. We often enjoy the approval of the world but it’s satisfaction only last for a brief period of time. It is said that the truth will set you free, but it is also said you can’t handle the truth. Great friends hold each other accountable and call each other out when it’s needed. Today’s scripture says it best by saying, “wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiples kisses.” Notice it says wounds because wounds heal. They make us stronger and we learn from those times. That means don’t kick your friend when they are down, but know what to say and when to say it. Your wound to a friend could be the difference in changing their life. Pray today that God would give you the words to hold your real friends accountable.
