A New You

January 4, 2016

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" - NIV 2 Corinthians 5:17

When Paul writes this to the people at Corinth, it reads in the original language like this, "...he is a new creation, Boom!"  He is letting them know that when they put their trust in Christ for their salvation, Boom!  They became a brand new person, someone and something that never existed before.  In the same way, when we put our trust in Christ, Boom! We became a new us.  Once we where only physical beings led by only physical desires, but Boom!  We became spiritual beings, given God's Holy Spirit, and new spiritual desires.  Boom!  We now wanted to please Jesus, and live for Him.  We saw friends, family, and classmates as saved or unsaved.  Boom!  We now looked to Jesus for strength and prayed for His grace to operate in our lives.  Boom!  What used to be attractive to us, had suddenly lost it's pull.  You have been "Born Again".  When a baby is born, we call them “newborns.”  That is why new christians are called "Born Again".  You are a newborn spiritual being, and God is your Father and other believers are your brothers and sisters.  If this describes you, thank Jesus for making you a New You.  If this seems foreign to you, ask Jesus to make you new, by confessing your sins, and by believing He died in your place on the cross, so you can experience the Boom!
