"On reaching the place, he said to them, 'Pray that you will not fall into temptation.'” Luke 22:40 (NIV)
Jesus made this comment to His disciples because He knew they were tired and that their flesh was weak, and they would give into the temptation of sleeping during a time that spiritual strength was needed. Have you ever given into temptation when you should have stood with Christ? Jesus makes Himself available to us and wants us to take His hand, but sometimes we take His hand spiritually speaking and then let go of it when the world comes calling. We have a poor habit of giving into our flesh instead of allowing ourselves to be Spirit led. At times, we like the thought of Jesus being in our life, but if He is only a thought, then we will never separate ourselves from the world to live for Him. He doesn’t want to be just a thought in your mind; he wants you to allow Him to live in your heart. Pray today, God I will not give in to the temptations of my flesh, but I will seek to be Spirit led by You. Lord I know I will struggle, but I know You are willing to help me. So I give you more than just a thought, I give you my heart. Amen.
