God at Work
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, He has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end." Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
Students from Wheaton College were frustrated one morning when their sightseeing in London was delayed by slow service at breakfast. They thought they were running late, but when they walked up to their subway station, they discovered that they had just missed an underground explosion. Many times we don't recognize the beauty (goodness of God) in our everyday lives. We are so focused on the now, that we forget how good and faithful God has been in the past. We also let fear and worry of the immediate rob us of peace in the moment, by forgetting that God promises to be good and faithful in our lives in days to come as well. The Wheaton students, I'm sure, were frustrated with their situation, until they discovered the eternal God was taking care of them, whether they knew it or not. How can you recognize the eternal sovereignty (control) of God operating in your life moment by moment? Think about a time when you believed you were inconvenienced, only to find out, that you avoided some problem. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you recognize God's beauty (goodness) in your life on all occasions, knowing that He is always working in and around your life, whether you know it or not. Thank Him today!
