"I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." John 16:33 (NIV)
The words Peace and Power usually don't go hand in hand. When you are at peace, you are actually operating from a position of strength. Think about what breaks peace in your heart. You know what it is, fear. Fear of our own limits, lack of control, of the future, etc... But when you and I have know that we are taken care of and the circumstances are in God's hands, then we will not be so easily persuaded to be afraid. When we act out of fear and worry, we are operating from a position of weakness. Weakness, because anxiety pushes us to do things we normally would never do. When we have peace, we will live from a foundation of strength and will not be moved to act outside of what we know is right and best. That is why Jesus called it His "peace." It is His, because it gives us strength to act according to His will. But the world's peace, based on circumstances and human strength, is weak and creates anxiety instead of peace. Trust in Jesus today and experience His peace, which is our foundation for strength. Remember, when you are tempted to act out of fear, "...take heart," (have faith and courage) Jesus loves you and is in control.
