“Brothers and sister, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.” 1 Thessalonians 5:14 (NLT)
Whether it is from parents, teachers, coaches, etc., we’ve all been given instructions in our lives. Some we’ve listened to, some we haven’t. Some we’ve benefited from, some we’ve suffered from. You may be a person who is given instruction and is completely ready to follow orders. You may be a person who immediately disregards and doesn’t take orders from anyone. Whatever you’re experience or personality is when it comes to instruction, it doesn’t matter. If you’ve made the choice to accept the gift of salvation that God has extended to you through Jesus on the cross, you need to adhere to his instruction. Jesus says, “If you love me, obey my commands.” These are a few of the instructions the Lord, through Paul, has given us, so that, when we obey them, we will grow in a deeper and fuller relationship with our Lord and Savior. Be an alarm to those around you who are ignorant to the fact that Jesus wants to know them. Bring a positive attitude to those who are lacking confidence. Help those in need around you. Be slow to anger with those who bring you trouble. You, soldier in Christ, have been given your instructions. Now go.
