"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." Luke 12:7 (NIV)
How close do you get to people you love? Close enough to count the numbers of hairs on their heads? As a slight, self-confessed germaphobe, I haven’t done that too many times, but with my kids, often. I may not have counted actual hairs, but many times, I have been so close to them, that I was able to see the details of their faces, eyelashes, unique indentures, nose hairs - oops, that's myself in the mirror. Sorry, couldn’t help it :). When you love someone, it’s easy to get close. Jesus wants you to know two things. First, God will take care of you, and two, it is because He loves you more than you can understand. We all have things we love, and when you love someone or something you take care of it. This is true of my son Jacob’s ever-growing lego set. He knows exactly where each one is placed, exactly what pieces are supposed to be where, and if one of us messes with it, there is going to be trouble. Let me say, you are worth more than Legos! And if my son, who is human and flawed, can care for lifeless lego sets, God, who is perfect in love toward us, is more than able to care us and He actually wants to. Remember, we care for and get close to that which we love. Today, when you care for that thing, animal, or person, remember that God cares for and loves you infinitely more, and rest assured, He has a plan to take care of you and keep you. He loves to get close to you.
