“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” - NLT Romans 12:2
When you ask people, "how do people become bad?" they will usually answer, “culture.” Even the world recognizes that it is more of a negative influence than a positive one. In this way, people agree with the Bible when it says, don’t be squeezed into the mold of this world. When a substance is poured into a mould, it naturally assumes the mold’s shape. You and I have been placed (poured) into this world, and if we are not proactive, we will naturally take the shape of the culture we are in. Deep sea vessels must be filled with a mixture of helium and oxygen, or else they will implode under the tremendous weight of the deep sea. Jesus followers must have an opposing pressure within ourselves or we to will be squeezed into a foreign mold we were never created to assume. The way we equalize the pressures of this world and it’s foreign ideas, is by immersing ourselves in God’s Word, prayer, and fellowship with like-minded believers. In this way the pressure from the outside world and it’s desires are cancelled out by the opposing pressure of God’s Truth, and His Power operating in our lives. When we know God’s will and follow it, we will experience His goodness in all areas of life. Pray for God to give you a greater hunger and understanding of His Word, so you may know and experience how good, pleasing, and perfect it is.
