“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations—that’s what I had in mind for you.” - MSG Jeremiah 1:5
Have you ever been chosen last for a playground game. It feels so humiliating and you feel purposeless. According to this verse God has no last picks. For God, no one is an “only one left” pick. God tells us, like Jeremiah, that we were all born in the heart and mind of God first. Each one of us chosen, appointed, gifted, fashioned, to be who we are and where we are, so that, we could be someone who speaks and acts (prophet) on God’s behalf. I know sometimes the world makes us feel like we are an accident, something that fell off of the cosmic craft table as scraps. If you have ever imagined something in your mind for a specific function and purpose and then created it, you would never say that song, poem, artwork, or tool, was purposeless. The sole reason you created it was for a purpose. In the same way, when you are faced with circumstances or feelings that would cause you to feel insignificant, remember the above words. They were true of Jeremiah, and they are true of you. But if your feelings are to align with the Truth, you must ask God to give you the strength to speak and act on His behalf, so that you can live out your purpose - to be a disciple who makes disciples. If you are hearing this for the first time and are unaware that God is your creator, ask Him to show Himself to you in a real way. You may be surprised. He would never pick you last.
