“And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart…” - NLT Ezekiel 11:17
It has always been God’s desire that His children have a heart that was characterized by singleness. Singleness means only one. In relationships, the boy or girl never hopes that the other be pursuing, or desiring other people. That would not be cool! In the same way, God loves us and desires our hearts be for Him, because His heart is single for us. Because our hearts tend to be divided and can have affection for other things, God has done something amazing for the believer. He has given us His Holy Spirit and has given us a heart that is soft and moldable. Unlike a hard heart that is unresponsive and dead, He gives us a responsive heart that is alive, beating, and naturally gravitates toward loving God and others. The NIV translation says, He will, “give them a heart of flesh”. A heart of flesh is a heart that is moldable, and like a potter with clay, our new hearts, when left in the hand of the potter, can now be shaped into the mold of His image (His character). If we allow ourselves to remain in His hands by spending time with Him in His Word, prayer, and fellowship with other believers, He will be able to mold us into His likeness. As a result, others will see Jesus in us more and more. Pray for God to give you the grace to remain in His hands, so your heart can remain tender and moldable, so others can experience Jesus through your life.
