What A Gift
Acts 10:4- Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.”
Everyday, we pass by someone in need and some days we recognize it and other days we are too blind to see it. God blesses those who bless those who are poor and in need, but I love what the angel says to Cornelius. He says, “your prayers and gifts to the poor,” we love to give gifts because of how it makes us feel. And God has made it clear that it is better to give than to receive, but what about our prayers? Even before you give a gift, let your prayers be that God would allow the gift to be exactly what that person needs. What a great power that prayer and gift will contain when we pray a blessing over a gift even before it is given. When you give money to a good cause or provide a gift for someone around Christmas, pray that God would bless it and bring His light into that person because of how God uses the gift. God, let your will be done. Pray this today: God help me be light for someone and, Lord, provide a gift for that person whether it be physical or spiritual. God, allow that gift to bless a person’s life and let the gift have depth. Don’t let it be something that is used for a little while then forgetting about it, but Lord, let it have a lasting value that blesses even more than we could ever know. Lord, let your will be done.
