Failing to Love
James 4:11- Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
We seem to always judge people. I know I am guilty of it all the time, and it doesn’t build people up or show love towards them. Ephesians 4:29 says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” Sadly, we allow judging words to come from our mouths all the time and we don’t even know it. It just happens! By us saying those things, we don't mean to be judgmental or negative but they still are. We take away from the unity of the body of Christ. We are failing to love unconditional as Jesus loves us. None of us our perfect, but instead of judging each other’s differences, we should be speaking the love of Christ to one another. Building relationships, loving each other, strengthening the unity of the body of Christ. The world is already dark enough and we have the light living in us! Let your every word be the word that speaks light not darkness. Heavenly Father, I have fallen short of always speaking words that show your love and reveal who you are in me. Father, forgive me for failing to love in all that I do and say. God, I don’t want to criticize those that you love anymore, and Lord, help me keep your law by my faith and possessing the love that you have. God, give me wisdom and help me maximize the current spiritual strength that I have to love like you in Jesus’s name, Amen.
