Compassion and Mercy

January 16, 2017

James 5:10-11-Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.

Many people in the Bible have suffered and faced persecution. During all their struggles God was gracious and merciful. It is so inspiring and motivating to know that the Lord is with us and has compassion on us. No matter what we face if we just lean into Christ, He will sustain us, and He will deliver us. You can persevere in the midst of heartbreak, during a divorce that’s going on in your family, after the loss of a loved one, and all the while God will never leave you nor forsake you. We are all facing something that is uncomfortable or painful. Be patient, don’t give up and trust in the Lord. He will never give you more than you can handle. Today should excite you because the Lord is for you and He is full of compassion and mercy. He is looking out for you. Smile today, put one foot in front of the other, and lean on God. We have tried to overcome things on our own, and that never works out. Today, pray that God would place His favor over you for His will to be done and as He helps you preserve He will show His compassion and mercy towards you.
