You Can't Earn It
“And since it is through God’s kindness, then it is not by their good works. For, in that case, God’s grace would not be what it really is—free and undeserved.” Romans 11:6 (NLT)
There are countless times in the Bible where Jesus says Salvation is a gift. It can not be earned by good works or good deeds. Salvation has nothing to do with money in the collection plate, our being baptized, confessions, reading the Bible, prayers, or going to church. Salvation has nothing to do with us and everything to do with Him. It is a free gift from God to ALL who believe that Jesus is our Lord and Savior. It's because of His gift of Salvation that we do all of those good deeds. They are done to glorify and magnify Him. They are done so that others might be able to see this beautiful free gift that He has to offer. Paul asks a question at the beginning of Romans 11, “ Has God rejected his own people?" He then answers it, “ Of course not.” Many people reject Jesus and His free gift of Salvation. But there is still hope for them. It's never too late to surrender our lives to God and experience His healing power through grace. As long as we breathe, we can still ask God for help and forgiveness. A gift is a gift, and if we have to work for it, then it is no longer a gift because it was earned through our effort. Paul could not explain it any better. He tells us that Salvation is through God’s kindness and His amazing grace gives it.
My prayer for you today is that you receive the gift of Salvation, and do the great works and actions that proceed from a changed life so that others may see His grace and love in you. It's never too late to ask Jesus for His gift and receive His saving grace and healing power!
