"Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do." Joshua 1:7 (NLT)
Obeying Jesus is scary. It requires courage to face the unknown and to overlook the many outcomes that might come our way. When we remember who is asking us (Jesus) and what He knows (everything), obeying becomes a little more reasonable. Our emotions of fear may still be strong, but our trust in Jesus and His goodness helps us to overcome these feelings.
That is what courage is. The grace we receive to obey when we put our trust in Jesus because we know He loves us and has a great plan for our lives. Walking in courage is not easy and often comes with difficulties, but it always works out for His glory (people see Him in our lives) and our best (we grow and become more like Him).
Courage says, "I will do whatever honors God no matter the cost." It understands that outwardly the circumstances may look painful, but if we obey, we know Jesus will use them for good - Romans 8:28.
What are you facing that you need Jesus' grace to overcome? Don't let fear be the motivation for your decision, but let your trust in Jesus and His faithfulness be the deciding factor. Pray for strength to overcome and then walk in courage! When you do this, the Bible teaches that the only result will be "prosperity" (experiencing all the good God has for you). Living this way has no regrets.
