Jesus Wants You
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest.”
In our American culture we grossly underappreciate and fail to prioritize rest. Unfortunately, this mindset typically gets carried over to the American Church too. We try to pack as much into each day as possible because, “we have too many things to get done” and it can, in most cases, lead to burnout or just overall stress. Now, by no means am I discrediting people’s schedules, and I am not saying that we should go through our daily lives doing nothing but “resting”. I am simply proposing that we begin to take our rest seriously and prioritizing it rather than it only being what we do after a long day at school or work or for those of you that are able, both.
Pastor Kevin has asked it like this before, “Are we resting to recover from the day we have just experienced or are we preparing for tomorrow and what it holds?” If you are anything like me then you might be raising your hand for that first part of the question. But I challenge us to begin to look at rest differently and rely on Jesus to provide the rest from our hectic world that we so desperately need. So, if you are tired, burdened, broken-down; Jesus wants you to come to Him. And even more important is that He wants you.
