His Kingdom Come

April 21, 2017

“May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:10 (NLT)

Have you ever really stopped and thought about what that means? In life when things are going right, and in the direction you want, it's easy to say this verse as part of The Lord’s Prayer. What about when life does not go so smooth? What happens when there is chaos in your life, an unplanned event happens, a sickness, or death in your family. What about when God’s plan is not your plan? When God asks us to get out of our our little world, our comfort zone, and make bigger sacrifices? Now, praying that part of the Lord's Prayer takes on a possible completely different meaning doesn't it. We may say “but God that is not what I want. That is what you want, but not what I want.” Jesus himself faced his own will versus The Father’s Will. Jesus prayed and asked God three times in the Garden of Gethsemane and finally submitted. “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”

See - we need to understand and trust in God’s plan. We need to trust that His plan is far greater, and better than our own. We need to understand that God works on his time, He does not work on ours. We must pick up our cross daily and follow him. Putting our plans and wants aside. Trusting and knowing that His Will is far better than we could ever imagine. The Will of God is infinitely good, wise, and holy. When we follow God’s Will there is a peace, love, kindness, and holiness in our hearts. When we have these in our hearts, we have the Kingdom of God inside of us. When we allow His Kingdom to come and we allow His Will to be done, we become His Kingdom represented on earth!

My prayer for you today is that no matter where you our in life, no matter what you are going through or facing, that you put your full trust in God and allow His Will to be done. Not to live for what you want, but what He wants. I pray that God’s love, peace, and holiness is placed in your heart so that others may see God’s Kingdom in you.
