"Then Paul answered, “Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” Acts 21:13 (NIV)
Near the end of Paul's life, he knew he would be killed for preaching and living for Jesus Christ and people pleaded with him not to go to the places where he would be put to death. Paul was not living for his will but for God’s, and his service to God was not going be put on hold because people wanted to kill him. He knew that not even death couldn’t stop him from being with God.
What Jesus did for us is worth dying for. It saved our lives and we will never have to taste death; we can rest in God, even if it comes to someone taking our life for serving Him. Paul was not only willing to be bound up, but also dying for the name of Jesus. Man! Do you love God like that? That no matter what happens to your life, you have freedom and can claim the victory that comes with the name of Jesus.
Lord, today, my prayer is that my life would be so set free by your name because the victory I have in you, that nothing would stop me from loving and serving you, even death itself. God, my life is saved and victorious because of who you are in me and what your Son Jesus did for me. Jesus, help me to live in that freedom that was accomplished on the cross and help me to trust your will Father, Amen.
