Matthew 7:24-25 - “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
Being a genuine Jesus follower means having a strong foundation. A follower thats faith is able to withstand tests and does not fold against persecution. When the winds and waters of this world rise up against you, you aren’t moved or swept away by them. You stand for Christ and Christ alone. When the winds blow, you aren't taken with them. This causes a stir because you are different. You are someone that has prayed for the stronger shoulders not the lighter load. You are a light shining in the darkness. Someone that goes against the grain, moving towards what God wants not what man wants. Yes, people will mock you and make fun of you because of your faith, but God has said no weapon formed against you shall prosper. Jesus also said don’t fear those who can kill your body but can not kill your soul. The point is if you say you are a Jesus follower then you should live what you say. Being a follower of Jesus is not an easy thing, but He is worth following. Standing with Jesus means not standing with the world. If we are who we really say we are then following Jesus creates a stir and some people will persecute you and others will come to know Christ through your faith.
