Post For Jesus
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
What do you treasure most? Is it fame, wealth, power, popularity, stuff, status, or social media image. I think we have moved to a place where we avoid conversation with one another. Hoping that the girl or guy we are trying to get to notice us will believe that what they see us as on Instagram and snapchat is who we actually are.
Guys, you're just hoping that girls will want to get with you and girls, you're hoping that one guy that keeps flexing on snapchat will see you.
It’s unhealthy to build up an image that is not the actual you, but also it shows where your heart is. A heart that is trapped and wanting attention. We have reduced our value and importance to please a society that has created a culture that says your image is most important. You better put a filter on that picture if you want to be wanted and loved by people as well. What do you treasure most?
It’s okay to have a “dry” phone meaning people aren’t constantly texting you, snapping you, blowing up your tweets with retweets, or nothing serious on the DM’s. That’s time we should be spending with God, but we keep watching our phones anticipating the next message. God wants you to focus on the things that are unseen versus the things that we are currently able to see. Because the things that you can see right now will soon pass away, but the things of heaven will never pass away.
If you want to change who you are, change for Jesus. We can't fool Him with a filter, He knows exactly who we are, and He loves us as we are. Post on Instagram a picture that will lead people to Christ. Post a snap story today that lets people know who Jesus is and what He has done in your life. We can’t treasure our social media image more than our relationship with God, but we can use social media as a tool spread the good news about Jesus. Post for Jesus today.
