Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear. Philippians 1:12-15
In today’s day and age, we wouldn't consider it a good thing to be in prison because of our belief in Christ. Paul is trying to get us to understand that struggle, hardship, and adversity for the sake of Christ is worth the discomfort in order to advance the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
How much are you willing to endure for the advancement of Christ?
Jesus went through death on a cross for us, so our momentary struggles shouldn’t stop us from sharing the light of Christ with others. When we move for Christ the enemy applies resistance, but the reward in the end outweighs the resistance.
Today is about the adversity we face for Christ and how we view it. I want to encourage you to take heart because Christ overcame the world and He is for you. Adversity for Jesus is advancement in our faith.
