"Therefore God elevated Him to the place of highest honor and gave Him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on the earth and under the earth, and every tongue declare that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11 (NLT)
How much time do you spend trying to bring attention (glorify) to your name? How many Instagram posts are rooted in an attempt to make only you look good? What is the goal of spending countless hours in front of the mirror or at the gym? Do you do it to for the sake of others or your glory? Who is ultimately going to benefit from your glory besides yourself?
What genuine and lasting good for others can come out of you becoming celebrated and recognized?
The only worthy and lasting cause that brings eternal good for others and ourselves is when we live to make Jesus' name known and great. Only Jesus brings real and lasting life to all He created. Only Jesus and faith in His name brings transformation.
When we spend time cultivating a relationship with Him and invite Him to lead our lives in a way that shines His light, then His name is made known. When we do this, people will have the opportunity to know Him and worship Him.
Who's name are you living and striving to promote and make known?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, forgive me when I live the life you have given me for my name's sake and not yours. Open the eyes of my heart to your indwelling presence and allow your life to be seen through me and your name to be glorified as I follow You.
In Your Name... Amen!
