I'm A Sacrifice
as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me. -Philippians 2:16-18 (NIV)
We are to shine brightly in a dark and depraved world. Are you shining brightly for Jesus or is your life clouded by the influence of a fallen world?
Our role is to shine until Jesus return and bathes the world in His radiant glory. Very few people live a life that holds firmly to the word of life, but you can be one of those people.
The drink offering was an essential part of the sacrificial system of the Jews (Numbers 28:7). Paul regards his life as a sacrifice. When we are totally committed to serving Jesus Christ, sacrificing to build the faith of others brings a joyful reward. Gives a whole new meaning to, “the joy of the Lord is my strength.”
Being poured out as a sacrifice for the sake of Jesus and being able to say the joy of the Lord is my strength shows a maturing faith. Today, as you go through the day, do you see your weakness as a joyful strength in the Lord? If so, then being sacrificed for the benefit of other peoples faith is all good with you. Just some things to think about.
