Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do. For, as I have often told you before and now tell you again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is set on earthly things. But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body. - Philippians 3:17-21 (NIV)
With compassion and hurt, Paul’s heart breaks for those that are choosing to live for everything but Jesus. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want my destiny to be destruction. Paul gives us the key to avoid that. He says, “keep your eyes on those who live as Jesus did.”
Don’t lose sight of Jesus. If you have received salvation, then stay facing Christ and walk toward Him as He walks with you. This is the win man! Don’t take your eyes off of Jesus. Some things may satisfy you temporary, but only Jesus provided a limitless satisfaction. He is our portion, the Everlasting God, the Prince of Peace, and the meal that feeds our soul. We try to find fulfillment in feeding our flesh, but we always end up hungry again. Try this one for me, feed your soul by worshipping God at church or reading His word in your room. Ask Him to feed your soul.
Don’t look or seek a feeling because feelings are temporary, but instead look forward to the fruit that will come out of your life. Peace, joy, love, perspective, a different view, a greater understanding of your life as you live for Jesus. Your most significant identity can be found in Christ, but you got to keep your eyes on Him. God has got you, and He has the best intentions for your life. I’m so excited to see what your life becomes as you keep your eyes on Jesus. Nothing can stop you!
PRAYER: God help me today to keep my eyes on you. The world will throw its false satisfaction at me through attraction, but I know You are the only attraction that can provide for my needs. So, God, today help me to keep my physical and spiritual eyes on you. Lord, if my eyes are not on you, I give you the freedom to get my attention. IN JESUS NAME AMEN.
