Stick It Out
But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.
Ruth 1:16 (NIV)
In life, we go through seasons, phases, close chapters and start new ones, face crossroads, and make decisions that shape the story of our lives. God has put it on my heart today to encourage you to stick it out! Whatever season of life you're in there will be difficulties and challenges. We can make decisions to make our lives easier by choosing a different path that has less resistance than the one we are currently on. Jesus didn’t choose a more natural way, He chose the cross. It’s time to stay the course and stick it out!
Sometimes we do have to make hard decisions and start heading in a new direction, but honestly, most of life is a bunch of small decisions put together that shape our story. Those little choices can build up and create habit or routine.
I know the easy button is just a commercial, but we treat life like that if we are not used to walking through adversity. We are quick to look for the easy button. Ruth didn’t push the easy button. The path she chose had plenty of resistances, but God is more significant than resistance. We want a new way, with less resistance. I don't like my current situation, so God give me a unique or new situation. We fail to realize that the growth in our lives comes from the complicated and hard conditions. God is with you at all times, and He doesn’t want you to miss the blessing He has for you on the other side of the struggle you are currently facing. Stick it out! You will be glad you did.
PRAYER: Lord you know what is best for me. Help me to remain strong where you have me. Jesus, you didn’t walk away from the cross, and for that, I am forever thankful. Would you help me identify where it is in my life that you want me to stick it out? Where you want me to remain strong and stay the course in Jesus name Amen.
