"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." James 4:7 (NLT)
Every day get up and put on Jesus saying, “Today I identify with Jesus, I belong to Him. He has given me new life and lives in me and loves me. He calls me to love Him and others. I am forgiven and He accepts me and is pleased with me. Today, with His help, I will walk with Him and join Him in seeking to save those who are lost.”
Spend time in His word and prayer before you head out the door and in doing so, you will be able to stand strong and resist the many temptations of the enemy.
When we devote (surrender) ourselves to Jesus in this way, we are focused on and facing Jesus. We have turned our back on the devil (resisted) and the devil gives up. He runs the other way. He runs the other way, because he realizes in that moment we are lost cause. He will sadly then look for someone else he may (will give him permission by a willfully disobedient lifestyle) take advantage of by deception and destruction.
As He did with Jesus, he will look for another opportunity at a later time, but if we consistently look to Jesus and keep our eyes focused on Him, then the devil will have limited chances at trying to get us off track.
Bottom line is we don't have to be afraid of the enemy or his schemes, simply aware. The Bible says, "...The Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit (devil and his demons) who lives in the world." 1John 4:4b (NLT). Emphasis mine.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you that I don't have to be afraid of the devil, but I only have to love and worship you in order to resist Him. Thank you that I don't have to face Him head on, but as I turn my back to the devil, by following you, you face him for me and take care of that which I can't take care of myself. Thank you! Amen.
