"Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light." Ephesians 5:14 (NLT)
We must keep our spiritual standard of living high, and beware of evil pervasiveness because the days we are living are difficult. Paul is most likely quoting a hymn in this verse, and his tone is direct and longing to see a difference in lives through the submission to the Light of Christ.
It's scary bringing dead things in your life into the light so Jesus can heal you. We have dead stuff in our lives and don't even know that what is dark is dead. It's essential that we understand not all that starts in darkness is bad. Before creation was spoken into existence, there was darkness, but then God created life and it was good. When Jesus was laid in the tomb, it was dark, but even in the darkness, His resurrection was being birthed. In this case, Paul is talking about our sin and sin is terrible, but if we would just wake up and bring the dead parts of our lives into the light, Jesus could work with our brokenness. He sees the things we may be trying to hide, and He is not ashamed of us, instead, He loves us and wants to help us.
Don't be afraid today, bring the deepest and darkest parts of your life before Christ and let Him give you a well-lit victory over darkness. His light is perfect love, and when perfect love touches you, it embraces you, there is clarity and stability in perfect love.
The darkness that comes from my sin hurts me, and today, I need your light, Jesus, You are perfect love and Jesus as your light and loves comes into my life today. I pray for victory over the sin that has been consuming my life and bring clarity and stability as I move forward with you. Amen.
