Harvest Takes Work
Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest. - John 4:35 (ESV)
Farmers wait for their crops to grow, but when harvest time comes, harvesting the crop actually takes work and time. Let me say it like this, you may be in the middle of a blessing, but in order to see the results of it you may have to spend a little time working hard. It’s a blessing to reach a time and place where you see a crop that is ready to be harvested, but the fullness of the blessing is on the other side of the harvest.
I’m excited for you as you read this because chances are if you are reading these devotionals you are spending time with God and being obedient to His will the best you can. You are making an effort to move towards God. When we experience a blessing we don’t stop moving towards God. We may have arrived at a harvest in our spiritual lives, but we don’t quit moving towards God there is still work to do.
Just because we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and savior doesn’t mean we kick off our shoes and just relax. There is still work to be done. Harvest time takes work, don’t miss the fullness of the blessing when you arrive at a blessing. Continue to move towards God even when life is going good. There is more of God waiting for you.
God thank you for all the blessing you have place in my life. Thank you that salvation was free and unearned. I recognize that growth and blessings will take effort on my part. But even that strength of my own effort is a gift from you. I ask you today, to give me all I need so that I don’t quit moving towards you and experiencing your perfect will for my life. Amen!
