Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” -John 8:12 (ESV)
We hear all the time from our parents that they don’t want us hanging out with certain people. I know that can be annoying, but honestly, so much of life is about who we hang out with, who we surround ourselves with, and who you imitate or acting like. We either lead or follow, but we all are following someone. Few choose to follow Christ.
Do you want to win at life? Surround yourself with successful people. Do you want to win for eternity? Surround yourself with people who are living out their lives following God’s purpose for them. I want to win forever not just in life here on earth. Success without God doesn’t have an eternal purpose, but success initiated by God and lived out by all who are called to His purpose is the everlasting success. Success in the Kingdom of God is not being served; it’s serving. Success in the Kingdom of God is not being the greatest, but the least.
Most will follow their desires to be healthy, wealthy, and wisdom. Looking to gain power and fame, but we all have been called to make ourselves low and be servants of Christ. He must become more, and we must become less. We all want to live a life worth living, that has a purpose. The only One that brings purpose is Jesus.
Break away from the cultural norm and surround yourself with those that follow Jesus. All success is short-lived, but the eternal purpose is forever. You don’t have to wait to live like eternity in eternity. You can start living it now. I’m praying today that you will decide to say, “I’m giving up all this world has to offer, just give me Jesus.”
