And call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” - Psalm 50:15 (ESV)
Say what you mean and mean what you say. People have a hard time being real anymore. It’s easier to hide behind a cell phone screen and either create an image about yourself that isn’t real or say something about someone that you wouldn’t have the guts to say face to face. We are all guilty of it; if we know a conversation is going to be awkward, we would rather text through it then talk through it. We don’t like being uncomfortable in front of people. It makes us seem vulnerable.
See God wants to know you personally, and because of that, a text isn’t personal enough for God. We expect God’s best, so why wouldn’t we give people are best. I said your best, not something that’s fake or made up, but who you are. Be you, that’s your best, and yes, that means being vulnerable. Not everyone will like the real you, but I would rather be real for Jesus than fake for the world.
Stop exhausting yourself by being two different people, and those two different people don't even include who God wants you to be. The first person is who you see yourself as and the second is who you want the world to see you as. The only one that matters is one who God see’s you as. Don’t live to please people, but live loving God and people. God loves you and you don’t have to do anything to impress Him. Just be you and live for Him. Stop creating yourself and let Him shape you.
Lord, I’m just going to be real with you. I struggle surrendering my life to you every day because I don’t always see or feel your love when the world gives me attention. God in the middle of my fears and failures will you make your love known to me. AMEN.
