When we become a new creation in Jesus, sin and the pull of this world no longer have power over us. Now, that doesn't mean we will never sin again; it merely implies sin no longer calls the shots. Through the power of the Holy Spirit living inside of us, we have the strength to say "No" to sin (Titus 2:12). You may not become sinless, but you will SIN LESS.
Jesus died our death so we could live His Life. A life marked by obedience to the father and disobedience to His own flesh and the devil.
Romans 6:10-11 (NLT)
When he died, he died once to break the power of sin. But now that he lives, he lives for the glory of God. So you also should consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus.
The funny thing about dead things is they don’t respond to stimulus. This is true for those who have given their lives to Jesus and become dead to the power of sin in their lives. When our flesh or the enemy comes knocking at our doors, we do n’t have to answer. We can just act dead. We don’t have to respond. But when Jesus comes knocking, we can respond, because we are alive to Him.
Now being dead to sin doesn’t mean we are dead to temptation (No one who follows Jesus can say, “I’m not tempted anymore.”), it means we now have the power to resist. Sin ’s power over us has been broken.
Romans 6:14 (NLT) says it like this, “Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace.
Now God’s grace (ability and strength) are what fuels our lives. Sin may still call to us, but we don’t have to let it rule us anymore.
If you have given your life to Jesus, there will be a noticeable change concerning sin and obedience to Jesus. If your life is now marked by following and obeying Christ over your own selfish desires (sin), then you can know you are New!
Jesus, thank you that becuase of Your death, burial, and resurrection, not only are my sins forgiven, but sin no longer gets to calls the shots in my life. I thank you that Your Spirit gives me the wisdom to know the WAY (how to live in relationship with you) and the strength to do it. Help me always to remember that is You in me and not my own abilities that cause me to live a life pleasing and devoted to You. Amen
