Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. James 1:19 (NLT)
If Jesus came back tomorrow, what would you tell Him about today? I knew You better today then I did yesterday. That would be my prayer at least. I find that a lot of times I am talking to God in my prayers like He doesn’t already know what I’m going to pray. I spend time telling God what I want and what I think I need. I hardly ever let Him do the talking.
I guess for me if God came back tomorrow and asked me about today, I would want to tell Him I did precisely what He wanted me to do. There are three things that I find helpful in identifying what God wants me to do, the scriptures, the life of Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit. The scriptures provide guidance, Jesus modeled the life to live, and the Holy Spirit leads me in the things of God.
His way is the best way, and I can live that out best when I’m listening instead of talk. When God comes back I pray that He finds me in the scriptures, living like Jesus, and being lead by the Holy Spirit. Today is a great day to let God start telling you what plans He has for your life. Be slow to speak, quick to listen, and slow in ungodly emotion.
Lord My ears are your, my voice is still, lead me in your ways and your will. AMEN.
