"Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage- with great patience and careful instruction." 2 Timothy 4:2 (NIV)
This verse comes from a letter written to Timothy from the Apostle Paul and he is speaking from his own experience with the world and God. This sums up in one sentence how we, as Christ followers, are to live each and every one of our days the way God wants us to. Go out and tell others about the God you follow, how He is the only way and truth. Don't keep that to yourself, that is selfish. God put us on this Earth to share the "good news;" He died for every person, not just those of us who are saved.
If you are sharing His word and living for Him people will notice and wonder what is wrong with you. "How does that person have so much joy?" "What is it about them that makes them so special and different?" They will ask. Be prepared to have answers that will glorify God and bring someone to Christ and not push them further away. We are to correct those who are wrong, rebuke those who sin, and encourage our fellow believers, but ONLY when told to by God. We are to do these things with love and patience and not with aggravation and harsh voices. We are to represent the Lord with the love He has shown each and every one of us. Ask God for careful instructions and a patience to love others like He has loved us.
Lord Jesus, give me a greater love and concern for others so that I will not allow comfort and self-preservation to keep me from sharing about You. Amen
