Trusting God in the Hard Times
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV)
The Lord has set a time and purpose to everything. Often it is difficult for us to see this in the midst of a trial or a time that God seems to be “dormant” in our lives. It is important for us to remember that He has a time and purpose for everything. It provides a great hope for us. How great is the thought that the perfect, infallible, Creator God sets everything in motion for a specific purpose at a specific time?
Everything has a set time in which it will have the greatest use to The Lord. As humans we see what is happening in the present, whereas God sees things with an eternal perspective. With this point of view He sees the exact times things must happen to fulfill His perfect will. Similarly, He gives a purpose to everything with the same omniscient view point. Every circumstance, season of life, friend, and all other things have a distinct purpose, set by God, to fit into His will and plan.
So if everything has a perfect purpose and plan set by The Lord, why do we feel like there are times when God isn’t moving in our lives? Or that we are placed in the middle of a situation that seems to have no good outcome?
Romans 8:28 gives us great hope for these times.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NKJV)
God promises us that if we love Him, all things will work together for our good. So in the midst of our trials, and in the midst of the times that God seems inactive, we can be encouraged and trust that He is working all things together for our good, in the perfect time. Take heart and remember that The Lord has a perfect time and purpose for everything, and that He is working those things together for the good of those who love Him.
Dear Lord, thank you that You see things with an eternal perspective and that You are working those things together for Your purpose, in Your timing. Help me to remember that daily. Thank you for working things together for my good. I love you Father! Amen.
