"I will never leave you, I will never forsake you." - Hebrews 13:5 (NIV)
Winter is a time of year where we live in a place where it’s so dark out, and we are affected by light in our lives. Just recently a 27-year-old girl in our area tried to commit suicide, but in her attempt, she was rescued. I wonder what type of darkness was following her around, attacking her at every corner, and when she decided she couldn’t escape it. I remember some of the dark points in my life. When you feel like the day is never going to end, and everything is against you, but no one sees it but you.
My bigger problem was that there wasn’t enough light in my life. All I could see was darkness, and honestly, that's sometimes all I wanted to see (darkness). The weather, our friends, our parents, and school, all have more influence on us then we realize. Meanwhile, God is somewhere lost in the picture of our lives. To be filled with the light we just have to recognize it and live within it. God will never leave you, and He is always near you. We don't have to run and find His light. It is all around you.
Here is the greatest part of it all. You don’t have to fight for the light, all you have to do is turn to it. Jesus Christ already did all the work so that you could live forever in His light and His love. Darkness may call your name every day, but you can just keep turning towards the light (Jesus). It's time we all turn towards the Light.
Lord, I pray today for every kid that feels that darkness consumes them and they are ready to give up. God this is very serious and in many cases, the difference between life and death. I pray for clarity in our hearts and minds so that we can identify Your light and turn towards You. Your light is hope God and today help us all to see the hope that is in Jesus.
