Cuss Mouth

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

Why is that we think curse words emphasis or magnify the message that we are trying to get a-crossed? I hear people say foul words when they are angry, in pain, or stressing the importance of what they are trying to communicate. Curse words don’t add value to what you are trying to say. They weaken or become a distraction that creates more focus on you and your feelings and not the message you are trying to communicate.

Curse words can communicate your feelings, but those feelings will go away. The weight of what you said won’t. Negative talk and words can injure people, and when we speak poorly, we aren’t building people up. We are tearing them down. Cursing is not the issue. It’s just the result seen because of a deeper problem. The bible says, “out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks and out of our mouth come blessing and cursing.” I’m not saying your heart is all bad, but it may be experiencing a shortage of what it needs. What goes in, will come out. Our soul needs to pump in the words of God and exhale words of life. Build people up with the words of life.

Lord today give me words to speak productively to those around me. Help me to be the positivity that someone needs today. Amen.
