After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 1 Kings 19:12 (NIV)
What does Jesus sound like to you?
He is the still small voice that whispers to our heart. He doesn’t need to compete with the other sounds and noises in our lives. He patiently waits and speaks in a tone that is not forceful or condemning. I believe that all who call Jesus their Lord hear Him in some form every day, but we aren’t always listening.
His is the voice that is never anxious, nor afraid. Always affirming who we are in Him. Always convicting with a path to freedom. Always in line with His word and His character. He is the purity of a child's laughter, and He is the confirmation that we receive from another. He is the stirring in my soul that moves me to purpose. I hear I feel, I see, my uncertainty is relieved in His presence, and His love fosters my hope.
Can you hear Him?
Lord today I decide to be intentional about hearing from you. At this moment Lord, I focus on you. Speak Lord your servant is listening.
