"This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!" 2 Corinthians 5:17 (NLT)
When you repent (turn from your way of life) and give your life to Jesus, you will be the first to notice you are NEW! You will be filled with an understanding of forgiveness and you will have new desires. Anyone who has been saved knows you don’t necessarily lose all of your old desires as much as you receive new ones.
Because of God’s Spirit in you, you have received a heart to live for Him and love Him. You never had those desires before Jesus transformed you. Because of this salvation, you will see people in a new light. You will see them as either lost or saved. You see them as valuable and lovable (not perfectly of course - growth and maturity in you still have to happen). I know this was true for me. I began to look around, and I saw my friends and family like I was before I encountered Jesus - Lost and in darkness and in need of salvation.
Remember this; Only “saved” people have a desire for others to be “saved.” When I was lost and apart from Jesus, I didn’t see people as saved or lost. I was dead to the things of God. I was spiritually blind, and this is true for all who have rejected Jesus.
Ezekiel 26:36 (NLT) says it this way, “And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart.”
Where your heart once beat for SELF, it now beats for JESUS! And with a new heart, you receive new eyes and will never see the same again.
Jesus, thank you for making me a new creation in You. Thank you that I have a new heart that allows me to see with your eyes of love, grace, and truth. Thank you that you will continue to grow my love for you and others and my eyes will see more clearly as I continue to follow You. Amen
