Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight! Yes, what joy for those whose record the Lord has cleared of guilt, whose lives are lived in complete honesty!” - Psalm 32:1-2 (NLT)
Almost 17 yrs. ago, my wife and I celebrated our wedding day. That day was filled with so much joy and excitement. It was also a day in which I experienced the pain that Jesus promised we would come in contact with when we follow Him heart, soul, mind, and strength. During our reception, one of my best men (I had two) started a fight with me. It was a buildup of his frustration concerning my "new found life" in Jesus, which meant no more "old life" living with him and my other friends.
Our wedding, which was filled with worship, scripture, and prayer, just turned frustration into anger. I remember the hurt I felt. It carried over to our honeymoon trip, and I would find myself, at certain times, feeling sad. God, being always faithful, had one of my very good friends send us flowers with a note for me. On that note he wrote Psalm 34. As I read Psalm 34, my eyes also fell on Psalm 32 and today’s verse. Reading those words allowed me to remember how much I had to be joyful and excited for. Not only was I married to the greatest and most beautiful girl I had every met, but I was FORGIVEN! All my sins were, “Put out of sight!” My guilt was cleared, I was a child of the King, and I had the promise of life eternal!
My life was truly blessed, no matter what happened or would happen to me. And because of the Love of the Father, and the faithfulness of a friend, my honeymoon was as it should have been (I know I just weirded some of you out there). Remember, no matter what you experience in this life, you always have a reason for JOY, you are FORGIVEN! Thank God for the forgiveness He offers through His Son, and walk in the blessings that come from being His child.
Lord Jesus, thank you for being a God who loves to forgive and show mercy. Help me to be more like You. Amen.
