The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand. Psalm 37:23-24 (NLT)
When my boys were younger and learning to walk, I would make sure I was holding one of their hands. Inevitably, because they were still toddlers and hadn't yet perfected the skill of walking, would stumble. If I wasn't holding their hands, there is no doubt they would have fallen and probably gotten hurt.
I never became angry at my sons for stumbling, because I expected it. They were only toddlers. As they would grow and we would walk together more, they stumbled less.
Just like my boys, God is holding our hands. If you are a teenager reading this, you most likely are a spiritual infant or toddler. God is not surprised by your stumbles. He understands that as you are growing in your relationship with Him and walking with Him, that you will still sin (stumble). Don't panic, God is holding your hand, and He will not let go. I believe you can choose to let go of His hand, but why would you? The more you hold onto Him, the more you will experience spiritual transformation. You will stumble (sin) less and less, and Jesus will remarkably shine through you.
Everyday take Hold of God's hand and declare the truth that He will never let you fall. You may stumble, but confess your stumbles and be strengthened in your walk with Him. He expects you to stumble, expect Him to hold you.
Lord Jesus, help me to realize You are holding me and because You are holding me, I can trust in Your strength and not my own. Help me to trust you even when I stumble, and help me to walk with You knowing that your hand and heart will never fail me. Amen
