"Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." - 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)
In the Old Covenant, when Moses entered the Lord’s presence, he removed his veil. In the New Covenant it is the Spirit who removes the veil. The Holy Spirit is the personal “Agent” of Christ. Paul’s words make it clear that the Lord is the Spirit. A result of the New Covenant is freedom. This freedom is possible because Christ has redeemed us from the penalty of the Law and now, those that believe in Him, become children of God.
Because Jesus has made the WAY, when we surrender our lives and believe, we are given His Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit that was given to the first Church in Acts. We have the same power living in us that we read about in the Bible. I’m telling you, the Spirit of the living God lives in you! We need to be people that believe in the power of the Spirit and communicate with God, instead of believing that only pastors and spiritual leaders have this kind of ability and privilege.
We don’t have to be like the Israelites and wait to hear from Moses. We can speak to God ourselves, because His Spirit lives in us. Take some time today to meet with God and thank Him for His Holy Spirit that lives in you.
Lord Jesus, thank you that You are always with me and thank you for giving me the gift of salvation and Your Holy Spirit. I am grateful for what You have done in my life, for what You are doing in my life, and for what You will continue to do in my life. Amen.
