"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." Galatians 2:20 (ESV )
Worrying about what other people think about us can be exhausting. Working steadily on our Avatar's (social media identities) to impress others takes a toll on our souls. We weren't created to impress other people. Instead, we were created to embrace others, as our heavenly Father embraces us.
Instead of working on our Avatar's we need to submit to God's work in us. We need to be real with Him and others. Whether we are walking in our hallways, or posting on Instagram, we are called to be His witnesses. There is a better way to use social media, and that way is the way of the Digital Martyr.
Being a Digital Martyr means recognizing that we have been "crucified with Christ." It means understanding that we belong to Him and for Him. That our lives are not our own and are not to be lived according to how we desire, but according to Jesus and what He desires. Christ wishes to live through us on our social media platforms as well.
Being a Digital Martyr means we stop trying to use social media to impress others, but instead, to embrace them. We use social media to display Jesus and embrace those who follow our threads with His love and truth.
Lord Jesus help me to use social media to embrace instead of impress. To show how great You are and how unconditionally you love all people. May my social media accounts reflect You and not me. Amen
