Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? Luke 14:28
Being a disciple of Christ cost something. Counting the cost and choosing to answer the call of Christ means to love God and love neighbor which is the greatest commandment. It also means to live out the great commission by making disciples. That is the calling and the cost is sacrifice by surrendering our lives for the work of Christ we are sacrificing God’s will over our desire.
Living for Christ is not popular with our friends and even some of our family members. We may not care what people think, but we don’t want to be made fun of. I’m okay with people thinking I’m a Christian. I am actually happy that people notice that, but I don’t want people to make fun of me.
God has given us free will to decide how and who we live for. Choosing the calling of Christ may not be the life everyone decides to live, but it’s the life for you and me. There is blessing in obedience, and my greatest response to God’s calling is obedience, no matter how we are treated. We should all count the cost. Jesus did, and He went to the cross because we were worth the cost. You can’t put a price on the love of Christ.
God give me the strength to obey you no matter what I face. Amen.
