Stand or Stumble
“and a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.' They stumble because they disobey the message--which is also what they were destined for.” 1 Peter 2:8 (NIV)
I remember being around my friends in high school and they would be talking about stuff they did with their girlfriends and others girls. I always felt if I didn’t contribute to the conversation, then I actually wasn’t cool. Whether what I was saying was true or not that’s a different story. There are times we would rather stand for the approval of our friends than stumble to honor God.
Those that believe in Jesus as their Lord and Savior will never fall. Fall applies to those that don’t believe in Jesus Christ. It’s implications mean that those that don’t believe will fall away into eternal condemnation. This world asks us to stand for our desires to please ourselves. Instead of stumble for the sake of living for Christ.
In this world we have to learn to resist temptation and accept trial, but the problem is that we accept or give into temptation and resist trail when we should accept it. This is a reminder that calling costs. We may stumble for Jesus when we live for Him in this world, but nothing can remove us from His hand. You won’t fall with God in you life only stumble.
Lord help me to stand for You even if it means stumbling in this world. Amen.
