"If even a tenth--a remnant--survive, it will be invaded again and burned. But as a terebinth or oak tree leaves a stump when it is cut down, so Israel's stump will be a holy seed.” Isaiah 6:13 (NLT)
Isaiah is considered the greatest prophets and is quoted over 50 times in the New Testament. He was anointed and appointed by God to speak messages to the people of Israel that they wouldn’t receive. Isaiah volunteered for the glory of God to be advanced, but the people God called Him to wouldn’t listen to what he had to say.
Do you ever feel like God is asking you to be a witness for Him in front of people that you know don’t believe in Him? It’s tough, I know sometimes I am very eager to do the work of the Lord as long as it is something I am comfortable doing. Isaiah wasn’t comfortable I’m sure. For me, it’s a pride issue. I care more about what people think and not what God thinks. It’s a tree that doesn’t bear fruit in my life and needs cut down.
My challenge to you today is to cut it down! Cut what down? Anything in your life that has not been surrendered to God and is holding you back from being bold for Jesus Christ. Cut it down, and where there is a stump, new life will grow. That’s the beauty of life in Christ. When old things die, new life begins to grow. Are you struggling with pride, fear, anxiety, and just want to fit in with the crowd? There is a tree in your heart that needs cut down. Cut it down and let the roots die so the fruitful trees of Christ can begin to grow.
Lord show me what needs cut down in my life. Amen.
