Our days on earth are like grass; like wildflowers, we bloom and die. The wind blows, and we are gone—as though we had never been here. But the love of the Lord remains forever with those who fear him. His salvation extends to the children’s children of those who are faithful to his covenant, of those who obey his commandments! Psalm 103:15-18 (NLT)
Often you and I can feel like we are unnoticed and overlooked. Like we are simply alone in a crowd, or not in the crowd at all. The author of this psalm understands those feelings - the feeling of not being important, or of our lives not measuring up. The feeling that whether we live or die, would anyone notice?
But this psalm gives us a beautiful picture of God, whose love for us will not allow him to overlook us or leave us out. It says that even though our days are temporary and sometimes seem meaningless and uneventful, our Heavenly Father will not fail to recognize and see us. Like a single flower in a field of wildflowers, we can feel lost, but God stoops down and recognizes the individual wildflowers. He sees their uniqueness and beauty because He created and cares for each one.
He says, "Good morning little wildflower, I see you and I love you." Then he invites us to join in loving the other wildflowers and living in harmony with each other so that, as each wildflower express His love and grace, like in a field of wildflowers, His Holiness and majesty are displayed. They are displayed as the field of flowers allow themselves (the church) to be swayed in harmony by the breezes of His wind (Holy Spirit).
You are God's wildflower and you are important and cherished and so is every other wildflower your share your field with. Allow the Holy Spirit of God to move in you and through you, that together the greatness of God may be seen.
Father God, thank you that you see me, even when I feel unrecognized and unappreciated. Help me to know Your eyes are always on me and help me to allow your Holy Spirit to continue your wonderful work in me. Amen!
