“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more." John 15:1-3 (NLT)
Spiritual pruning can be a painful process, but it is something we all as Christians will go through during different times in our lives. It’s when God strips away the “stuff” that weighs us down, keeping us from being able to do the things He is asking us to do and going the places He is asking us to go. Although it can be painful, and we don’t look forward to that season of life, God promises us the He will only do things that are only for our good and to never leave our side through it all.
This week, I want to encourage you to be vulnerable before God and ask him what it is in your life that needs to be cut out or pruned. Once he reveals these things, pray that he would work on these areas in your life so that you can become more fruitful.
God, what areas of my life are dead and need to be cut out and what areas do you see as having potential but that I haven’t handed over to you? Work on these things so I may become more fruitful. Amen.
