If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. Galatians 6:3 (NIV)
We should never think of ourselves as so independent that we don't need any help from others. Nor should we live in such a way that we excluded from helping anyone. We come to church from time to time and look to get what God has for us and miss the people around us need help. It's not that we don't care about those people, but we have to take care of our needs first.
Jesus didn't put Himself first for just His pleasure, but He went before us to save us. When is the last time you said to someone, "how can I help you?" In your mind have you thought about how you're going to lay your life down to serve others this week? I that would require us thinking about someone besides ourselves. Most days we are just trying to make it through the day without too many interruptions. We are just trying to survive. Stop and look around today, go out of your way to help someone today. Jesus was always providing for others, and if we call ourselves Christ followers, we should be doing the same.
Father, place someone right in front of me to minister to today. Amen.
